Mission

The Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates is a professional organization committed to excellence in patient care standards and a continuum of quality care, clinical practice, and research through education of its members, patients, families, and community.


Purposes

  • To engender a high quality of urologic education for urologic nurses and allied health professionals.
  • To unite urologic nurses and allied health professionals for the purpose of maintaining an association dedicated to promoting the highest professional standards for the better and safer care of the urologic patient and the advancement of urologic nursing.
  • To study, discuss and exchange information in the field of urology.
  • To hold meetings at intervals for the purpose of the SUNA.
  • To cooperate lawfully with other professional associations, hospitals, universities, industries, technical societies, research organizations, and government agencies in matters affecting the foregoing purpose of the SUNA.

Certification Board for Urologic Nurses
and
Associates

The Certification Board for Urologic Nurses and Associates offers examination and certification in urology.These examinations consist of multiple choice questions. The application, study guides and examination are revised yearly. Certification is awarded for special recognition of knowledge and qualifications in urology in three categories:

  • Urology Registered Nurse.
  • Associate -LPN, LVN, or Technician.
  • Advanced Practice -Physician's Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist.
