Information for Authors Editorial Policies Urology Nurses Online of the Digital Urology Journal welcomes original didactic or research articles relevent to nurses practicing in the area of urology. Manuscripts and queries should be sent to the Editor at the address below. Authors will be notified on receipt of their manuscript. All manuscripts are reviewed by selected experts in appropriate specialities. All manuscripts are subject to editing. Manuscripts are accepted for publication with the understanding that they become the permanent property of the Digital Urology Journal and may not be published elsewhere without the written permission of the author and Editors of Urology Nurses Online of the Digital Urology Journal. The editors assume that articles emanating from a particular institution are submitted with the approval of the requisite authorities, including all matters pertaining to human studies. Statements and opinions expressed are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of the Editors of either Urology Nurses Online or the Digital Urology Journal. The Editors and journal disclaim any responsibility or liability for such material, and do not guarantee, warrant, or endorse any products or services advertised in this publication. Copyright Statement In accordance with the Copyright Act of 1976, all manuscripts must be accompanied by the following written statement signed by the author: "The undersigned author transfers all copyright ownership of the manuscript (title of article) to the Digital Urology Journal (Urology Nurses Online) in the event that the work is published. The undersigned author also warrents that the article is original, is not under consideration by another journal, and has not been previously published. I sign for and accept responsibility for releasing this material on behalf of any and all co-authors". Conflict of Interest Authors should disclose at the time of submission any conflict of interest, in particular any financial arrangement with a company whose product is mentioned in the manuscript. Should the article be accepted for publication, an appropriate disclosure statement will be required. Preparation of the Manuscript Please submit the original and three copies of the manuscript. All copy should be double-spaced, on one side only, on 8 1/2 x 11 inch white paper, with 1 1/2 inch margins on all four sides. Once a manuscript is accepted, the final version of the manuscript should be submitted on diskette along with one copy of the printout. Diskettes may be in either PC or MacIntosh format and labeled with the title of the manuscript. The author accepts responsiblility for the submitted diskette exactly matching the printout of the final version of the manuscript. The text must conform to acceptable English usage. The expanded form of abbreviations should be used the first time they appear in the text, with the abbreviation in parenthesis. The abbreviated form should be used thereafter. Generic drug names should be used; however, proprietary names may be inserted in parenthesis at the point of first mention.If it is necessary to mention a trade name for equipment, the manufacturer's name, city, and state must follow in parentheses. Weights and measures should be expressed in standard and in metric units. Temperature should be expressed in deegrees Fahrenheit and in degrees centigrade. Title Page: The title page should include the full name(s) of author(s), academic degrees, institutional affiliations, and current status. Give the complete mailing address, business and home telephone numbers, e-mail address, and facsimile number of the author to whom correspondence should be directed. Do not type the authors' names on the manuscript pages. References: Use the reference style of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (4th ed., 1994). The reference list should appear on a seperate page at the end of the text. The reference list should be double-spaced. Only references cited in the text should appear in this list. Illustrations: Number illustrations consecutively in the order of their mention in the text. Attach a label to the back indicating the number of the figure, the first author's last name and the top edge of the figure. Two sets of glossy prints, 3x4 inches (minimum) to 5x7 inches (maximum), are required. Alternatively, illustrations may be submitted on diskette in GIF or JPEG format accompanied by one set of glossy prints. Figures should be professionally drawn and photographed; freehand or typewritten lettering is unacceptable.Letters, numbers and symbols should be clear and even throughout, and of sufficient size to be legible when reduced for publication. Do not send original art work, x-ray films, or ECG strips. Illustrations will not be returned unless specifically requested by the author. Permissions: If a direct quotation, figure, or table has appeared in copyrighted material, submit written permission from the copyright owner and the author to reproduce the material and provide complete information as to source. If photographs of persons are used, either the subject must not be identifiable or their photographs must be accompanied by written permission showing informed consent. Figure Legends: The legends should be typed double-spaced on a seperate sheet of paper and numbered to correspond with the figures. If a figure has been previously published, the legend must give full credit to the original source. Checklist for Authors:
