Prenatal Diagnosis of Hydronephrosis in a Left Pelvic Kidney


Confirmed after delivery.

Ultrasonography showed no renal sinus echos in the pelvic kidney (Figure 1), the usual situation.  VCUG showed that there was reflux on the left into the pelvic kidney, and its ureter inserted into a bladder diverticulum (Figure 2). 

On the scout film for the VCUG, we could see that the anatomic splenic flexture of the colon occupied the empty left renal fossa (Figure 3).
