Reflux Into Unused Ureters and Extravasation From the Unused Bladder

5-year-old boy who had bilateral nephtrectomy for Wilms tumor.  On Peritoneal dialysis.  Pre-transplant VCUG showed reflux into unused ureteral stumps  (Figure 1) .  This is a not uncommon phenomenon.  When there is no efflux of urine down the ureter, there is a greter likelihood for reflux up the ureter.

He also had extravasation of contrast material from the unused bladder at the right UV junction (Figure 2).  This is a benign, self-limited, clinically unimportant phenomenon that sometimes occurs when a VCUG is done in an unused bladder.  The patient has no symptoms from the extravasation and it does not affect the subsequent transplant.
