This 5-year-old boy had several episodes of urinary retention. An ultrasound exam on 8/4/99 showed normal kidneys and a normal bladder (figure 1). After another episode of retention, a repeat ultrasound exam one week later showed a polyp in the bladder (figure 2). A VCUG showed a polyp in the bladder (figure 3). During voiding, the polyp traveled into the urethra where it was seen as a filling defect just below the verumontanum (figure 4). At the end of voiding, the polyp was no longer in the bladder, of course. The polyp was removed endoscopically and proved to be a fibroepithelial polyp. It was attached to the yrethra at the verumontanum.
