This girl had a urinary infection and a voiding cystogram showed a refluxing left
upper pole bladder neck ectopic ureter.
(Figure 1 A, B) Her
mother had the same condition when she was a little girl! An IVP with a catheter
in the bladder to prevent reflux showed a normal right kidney, good function in a
slightly dilated left upper pole and a normal left lower pole(Figure
2) She underwent common sheath reimplantation, leaving a short stump of the left
upper pole urether in place. During a post-op voiding cystourethrogram, the catheter
first went into the orifice of the left upper pole uretheral stump.(Figure
3) The study was otherwise normal.
