A boy had prenatal diagnosis of left hydronephrosis. His ultrasound was said to be normal at one month of age, therefore no further follow-up was done until recently when a screening ultrasound exam for another problem showed significant left hydronephrosis. An IVP (Figure 1) and retrograde ureterogram (Figure 2) showed obstruction in the proximal portion of the left ureter which had a configuration typical for a ureteral valve or stricture. The abnormal portion of ureter was excised and the ureter was reanastomosed. The lesion was found to be a ureteral valve.
