Ureteritis cystica (UC) is a rare condition,
characterized by multiple cysts and filling defects in the ureter and
renal pelvis, visualized during studies performed with a contrast agent
such as intravenous pyelography (IVP) and retrograde pyelography (RGP).
Based on radiology and endoscopy findings, this pathology can be misdiagnosed
as a malignancy until histopathologic evaluation reveals the characteristic
disease. Two cases are presented in this report and the related literature
is reviewed. One of the patients had multiple lesions in both her ureters.
The other had a polypoid lesion in the right ureteral orifice. At initial
presentation the lesions in both cases mimicked a malignancy.
